Key responsibilities of the candidate

The candidate will be responsible for helping with the food preparation. They will measure the ingredients and prepare food items according to the procedures that are already established. They will help with short-order cooking operations like breakfast and hot meals. The candidate will make sure to maintain the food quality and portion control. The candidate will be responsible for following the food safety standards. They will receive and store the food supplies in the inventory.

They will clean the kitchen equipment and the storage area. The candidate will operate commercial kitchen equipment safely. They will help with the stock management. The candidate will provide workplace training and guidance to the offenders who participate in the food service program. They will follow the security and sanitation procedures all the time. 

Required qualifications of the candidate

The candidates should have completed 3 years of secondary school in Canada. They can also have a combination of education and relevant experience to apply for this position. They are required to work in a structured institutional environment. The candidate should be committed to workplace safety and professional conduct. The candidate should be able to follow the procedures. They should have good communication skills. 

Experience needed for the position

For Food Services Helper, there is no requirement for food service experience. But if the candidate has experience in food handling or the hospitality industry, that will be beneficial at the job. For Cook’s Helper, the candidate should have experience working in food service in a commercial or institutional environment. They should have experience with male preparation and food distribution. The candidate should have experience with short-order cooking activities. The candidate should be familiar with food safety practices.
