Key responsibilities of the candidate

The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance contract for highways and bridges. They will also be responsible for transportation facilities. The candidate will check the contractors to make sure that maintenance work complies with the provincial standards. The candidate will do inspections and evaluate the quality of repair work. The candidate will review the reports and make sure that the documentation is correct regarding the maintenance activities.

The candidate will write financial records and monitor the expenditures of the project. They will help with a cost-effective decision-making process. The candidate will provide analysis and improve maintenance planning and services. The candidate will work in collaboration with contractors and ministries. They will also help to solve the operational issues in collaboration with the stakeholders. 

Required qualifications of the candidate

The candidate should have a degree or a diploma in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related field. They should have a valid driver’s licence. The candidate should have knowledge of road maintenance and Highway construction methods. The candidate should be familiar with the legislation of the province, such as the Highway Traffic Act. If the candidate has a professional certification related to infrastructure management or project management, it will be considered an asset. 

Experience needed for the position

The candidate should have experience in road maintenance and repair planning. They should have experience in handling construction material and equipment. The candidate should have experience in contract administration. Candidates should have experience in cost estimation and budget tracking. They should be able to read engineering drawings and technical plans. The candidate should be able to co-ordinate also meet deadlines along with the standard of quality. 

Skills and competencies of the candidate

The candidate should have good analytical skills so that they can solve problems. The candidate should have good planning skills so that they can schedule and organise tasks. The candidate should have good communication skills so that they can manage the stakeholders. A candidate should have leadership skills to coordinate the health operational team. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and reporting software. They should be able to interpret technical documentation. The candidates should be committed to workplace safety.
