Job Description

The responsibilities of the candidate

The candidate will be responsible for providing legal advise on the privacy legislation and access to information-related matters. They will help with the interpretation and application of legislation and the regulatory framework. The candidate will review the policies and programs for privacy and excess implications. The candidate will prepare reports and recommendations. They will help with legal matters related to administrative law. The candidate will collaborate with the stakeholders and subject matter experts. They will help to stencil the information governance and privacy protection. The candidate will do legal analysis and risk management and help with organisation decision making. The candidate will do legal research and prepare the briefing material. 

Professional qualifications of the candidate

The candidate should have a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Juris Doctor (J.D.), or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution. They should have a membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. The candidate should be eligible to practice law in Ontario. The candidate has additional Legal education or professional certification related to administrative law or information governance; it will be considered an asset. 

Experience needed for the position

The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of professional legal experience to provided advise on privacy and access to information matters. They should have experience in advising clients or in privacy legislation. They should have experience in providing legal guidance regarding access to information requests. They should be able to interpret legislative and regulatory requirements. The candidate should have experience in drafting legal memoranda and advisory documents. They should have experience in managing legal risks and providing recommendations that are strategic in nature. A candidate should have knowledge of practicing administrative law and reviewing legislative proposals and regulations.

The candidates should have advanced legal research and Analysis skills. They should have a good understanding of privacy principles. Candidates should have good communication abilities so that they can write memoranda. The candidate should have good judgement skills and professional ethics. A candidate should have strategic thinking skills so that they can solve problems easily. They should be able to manage different priorities within a deadline. A candidate should have relationship-building skills so that they can manage the engagement with stakeholders. The candidate should pay attention to the details. They should be adaptable in a dynamic legal environment.
