Key responsibilities of the candidate

The candidate will be representing the province of British Columbia before courts and administrative tribunals. They will conduct judicial reviews and Tribunal hearings. The candidate will draft legal opinions and applications for the clients. They will conduct research related to the indigenous constitution and administrative law. The candidate will be responsible for managing litigation files that involve a large volume of evidence and documentation. The candidate will help the government Ministries and Agencies with legal risk matters. They will monitor the legal development and identify the Trends that affect indigenous rights. The candidate will collaborate with the litigation teams and legal professionals. 

Professional qualification of the candidate

To apply for this position, the candidates should have a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Juris Doctor (J.D.), or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution. They should be eligible for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia. The candidate should also have six to eleven years of call to the bar. If the candidate has a specialised training in indigenous law or constitutional law, it will make their application strong. 

Experience needed for the position

The candidate should have civil litigation experience that involves petitions and applications. The candidate should actively participate as a litigation counsel on a litigation team.
