Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Part-time)

Job Description

The City of Ottawa is looking to hire a candidate for the position of Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. The job location will be different locations in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a part time and continuous work position. The candidate will work for up to 24 hours every week. The candidate should have a four-year degree in Therapeutic Recreation. The candidate will get a salary of $25.120 to $36.683 on per hour basis. The last date to apply is July 6, 2026. 

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for planning the Therapeutic Recreation. They will implement the recreation activities. The candidate will lead the group session for the people with disabilities. They will monitor the well-being of the participants and suggest advice. They should be able to write good documentation. 

Required Qualification:

The candidate should have a 4 year degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a 3 year degree in Therapeutic Recreation diploma. They should have a Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification. The candidate should have a certification in Crisis prevention. They should have IASR training certification. The candidate should have a valid Ontario class G driver’s license. 

Experience Needed:

The candidate should have 3- 5 years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation within Adult Day Programs. They should have experience designing the rehabilitative programs for the people with disabilities. They should have experience in helping diverse people. 

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good leadership skills. They should have knowledge of their field of work. They should have good judgement skills. They should be creative. The candidate should be reliable and flexible.
